Pz.Kpfw.VI Sd.Kfz.182 Tiger II (Henschel 105mm), 1/16
Trumpeter 1/16 German Army SdKfz 182 King Tiger Heavy Tank (H 105 mm) (00949)
This 1/16 scale model kit from Trumpeter represents the German Army’s formidable King Tiger (SdKfz 182) with the Henschel turret and a proposed 105mm main gun variant. Known also as the Tiger II, Königstiger, or Royal Tiger, it was the most heavily armoured and armed tank fielded by Germany during the Second World War. Deployed from 1944 onwards, King Tigers saw action on both Eastern and Western fronts, combining immense battlefield presence with devastating firepower.
While highly effective in combat, the tank was hindered by excessive weight, mechanical unreliability, and production difficulties. Only a limited number were produced, and though they couldn’t stop the Allied advance, their impact and legacy endure.
This Trumpeter kit delivers extraordinary scale detail, perfect for advanced armour modellers. It includes a full interior, photo-etched details, and individual track links for maximum realism. With over 1500 parts across 35 sprues, this is a centrepiece build that showcases engineering precision and historical accuracy.

History:
The SdKfz 182 King Tiger was the final evolution of German heavy tank design in WWII. Built with a powerful main gun and thick frontal armour, it posed a serious threat to Allied armoured forces. The Henschel turret was the most widely produced configuration, though proposed upgrades included fitting a 105mm main gun for increased firepower. This kit depicts that concept variant, offering a glimpse into late-war design intentions. Although the King Tiger was too few and too late to change Germany’s fate, it remains one of the most iconic tanks of the 20th century.
